Description : The Church Street Townhouse is located in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Housed in a 400 year old Grade II Listed building and located directly opposite Shakespeare’s school, it is the perfect base to soak up the history, culture and entertainment that our wonderful town offers.

Only two minutes’ walk from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, one minute from the bustling town centre, 5 minutes’ walk to Shakespeare’s Birthplace and 5 minutes in the other direction to the wonderful Holy Trinity Church - whatever you are looking for, it’s right on your doorstep.

Our bustling neighbourhood bistro is open all day so whether you fancy a light lunch, a delicious afternoon tea, a speedy pre-theatre supper or a relaxed dinner, we are ready for you with great food and smiley staff.

We have two charming bars offering a great selection of wines, whiskies, craft beers, Champagnes and soft drinks and a menu of tasty, fast bar snacks. The piano in the Blue Bar is played at 5.30pm during the week for the enjoyment of the after-work local crowd rubbing shoulders with the pre-theatre diners.

Our 12 luxury ensuite bedrooms each offer superking sized beds, great showers, ipod docks, TV/DVD player and WiFi.

We have two small but charming bars at The Church Street Townhouse – the Library Bar and the Blue Bar.

The Library is a cosy, beamed room with squishy arm chairs, bookshelves and a hint of velvet!

The Blue Bar is lighter and airier with a beautiful pewter bar top and views across the street to the ancient black & white half timbered buildings the area is famous for.

The piano in the Blue Bar is played every weekday at 5.30pm for an hour or so, to entertain the local after-work crowd as they rub shoulders with the pre-theatre diners. Our pianists are all music students from the King Edward VI School opposite our hotel which was the school that William Shakespeare attended.

Guests are welcome to dine from any menu in either of the bars – The Church Street Townhouse is all about putting the customer first and we want you to dine where you feel most comfortable. If you just fancy a bar snack then you are in luck – we serve a selection of tasty bites from the kitchen, a bucket of mini sausages or a simple range of crisps and nuts. We have an excellent choice of wines and sparklers by the glass plus well kept ales, craft beers, whiskies and interesting soft drinks.
