London Pubs and Bars - Barrow Boy and Banker, Southwark SE1 9QQ - Welcome

The Barrow Boy and Banker is a firmly established Fullers’ Ale & Pie pub on the Southside of London Bridge.

The Barrow Boy is many things to many people. From Ladies and Gents struggling to choose from one our 10 homemade pies whilst being distracted by the stunning views over the main bar when reserving their table on our first floor mezzanine at lunch.

To the tourists who have spent a long day visiting one of many local treasures, perhaps taking in the beauty of St Paul’s Cathedral just across the bridge. Or a play on the famous Southbank home to the National theatre and of course Shakespeare’s Globe, even talking art at The Tate Modern.

As they stop for a well earned rest what could be more rewarding than traditional beer Battered Fish and Chips helped down with a pint of London Porter Ale, which itself has been brewed along the banks of the Thames following the same recipe for over 165 years.

Whilst the children enjoy their homemade Apple Pie and talk about just how scary the London Dungeons really are, why not take in the mural paintings depicting the bustling Borough market of yester year, over a freshly ground coffee or a cool refreshing gin and tonic.

The markets close and 5 o’ clock approaches the pub bursts into to life as the traders (stocks and shallots) reacquaint with friendly bar staff, pouring pints of award wining London Pride and ice cold Peroni.

As Saturday evening draws in, the happy couple glide down the marble staircase, the chandelier, candles and confetti sparkle. Their family and friends have come to wish them well. Take your seats, diner is served, raise your glass of bubbly, Saturday night fever here we come!

The Barrow Boy and Banker really is many things to many people.
